Rustlers Clinch Title in Metropolitan League

The Huntington Beach Rustlers split a doubleheader Saturday, and the victory in the second game clinched the Metropolitan League title for the Rustlers at Golden West College.

The Rustlers lost the first game to the Cypress Dawgs, 8-3, but won the second, 9-2, to take the league title.

Golden West is 14-3 with one game remaining in the seven-team league that is made up mostly of college-age players from Orange County.

Huntington Beach, which is coached by Shane Flores and Keith Kaub, will take on a league all-star team Aug. 11 at Anaheim Stadium after the Angels’ game against Oakland.
