A team of United States Basketball League players held off Canada, 94-93, to reach the final of the World Basketball Cup in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The USBL team trailed, 63-51, with seven minutes remaining, but got back in it behind former Laker Wes Matthews, who had 22 points on six three-pointers.
Also participating are European champion POP ’84 of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union.
