County Truck Delivery Restrictions Tightened

All trucks operated by Los Angeles County will be able to make deliveries to county facilities only between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., it was announced this week.

The first phase of the county’s truck delivery schedule was implemented in August and restricted deliveries by the Internal Services Department, the county’s purchasing agency, to off-peak hours.

Supervisor Mike Antonovich said Phase 2 expands the peak-hour restrictions to the county’s 400 large trucks and deliveries to 1,900 county receiving sites by 28 vendors.

It is estimated that restrictions on Internal Services Department vehicles resulted in a 20% reduction of emissions, Antonovich said, and annual savings of nearly 38,000 gallons of diesel fuel and elimination of 13 tons of pollutants from the air.
