Long Beach : Appointments of 2 New Port Commissioners OKd
The Long Beach City Council this week confirmed the appointments of two new harbor commissioners, Democratic Party leader Carmen O. Perez and real estate investor Roy Hearrean.
The two, nominated by Mayor Ernie Kell, will replace Commissioners Robert Langslet and George F. Talin Sr. Langslet has served the two-term limit, and Talin’s reappointment was derailed by recent investigations into his tire company’s business dealings.
Perez, the first Latino to sit on the powerful harbor board, is assistant chief deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn and one of four vice-chairmen of the Democratic National Committee. Hearrean is chief executive officer of Statewide Investors, a real estate investment firm.
