Muzzling Gates
Three articles in the July 27 Metro section were headlined: “King Cleared in Alleged Assault on L.A. Officers,” “Curb Proposed on Gates’ Statements” and “Ruling Voided on Immigrants’ Speech Rights.”
Rodney King believed the officers were bandits so no charges were filed. Does that mean open season on anyone we might suspect? In the case of Gates, he would have less free speech rights than a group of immigrants allegedly linked to a group associated with terrorism.
Who is supporting the cause of the real minority--the solid, loyal, law-abiding citizens--to assure that they aren’t becoming disenfranchised?
