Traditional Anglicans Get Call for Unity
After years of infighting and partisan politics, two of the largest “splinter” denominations that grew out of the Episcopal Church are calling for creation of a united traditionalist Anglican denomination.
In a “Call for Unity,” leaders of the 15,000-member Anglican Catholic Church and 7,000-member American Episcopal Church urged traditionalists to gather in October to lay the foundation for a united, traditional Anglican Church in America.
Archbishop Louis Falk of the Anglican Catholic Church and Archbishop Anthony Clavier of the American Episcopal Church, signers of the unity call, both expressed hope in recent interviews that significant numbers of traditionalists will attend the conference, which is slated for Oct. 2-5 in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
However, initial indications suggest that interest in the unity move is minimal at best, with the strongest support coming from the American Episcopal Church.
