Lynwood : Events to Focus on Redevelopment, Home Repair
Developers and financial experts will explore options for residential, commercial and industrial development in Lynwood at a city-sponsored conference from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Bateman Hall, 11331 Ernestine Ave.
In conjunction, the city will hold a daylong home improvement expo there, concentrating on home renovation. “Don’t Move. Let’s Improve” is the theme. Contractors, designers and suppliers of home improvement products will have exhibits.
The morning conference will explore trends in the redevelopment of metropolitan areas and is limited to 200 participants, including residents as well as prospective developers. The event is free but those wishing to attend must reserve seats by calling the Community Development Department, 603-0220, ext. 255.
Although the economy is currently in a downturn, the city wants to position itself for the eventual upswing, said community development director Kenrick Karefar-Johnson. The new Century Freeway will run through the heart of the city, making Lynwood an extremely desirable location for businesses, he said.
