Reagan on Arms Race
Now that you are being inundated by the hate-Reagan liberals wailing about his idiocy in his Commentary piece saying that the military buildup and “Star Wars” were important factors in the apparent de-escalation of the arms race, let me remind you of the following:
On Oct. 16, 1990, a Times editorial quoted an Eastern European country’s president as privately commenting that it was the “U.S. military buildup in the 1980s more than anything else that finally compelled the Soviet Union to bow to the imperatives of radical change.” It’s clear to anyone unburdened by the hate-Reagan virus that this is true.
