Son of Kirk Douglas Charged With Battery
Eric Douglas, son of actor Kirk Douglas, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor battery on a Beverly Hills police officer stemming from a scuffle outside his attorney’s office.
Douglas, 33, the younger brother of actor-producer Michael Douglas, was meeting Tuesday afternoon with his attorney when the two began arguing and police were called, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office said.
The officers left after neither Douglas nor the attorney wanted to press charges. A short time later, Douglas encountered Officer Michael Carra in the lobby of the same building and allegedly kicked Carra at least twice, prosecutors said. Carra then arrested Douglas.
The district attorney’s spokesman said that Carra, 37, was serving as a private bodyguard for Kirk Douglas when the actor was injured in a helicopter crash in February. The spokesman alleged that Eric Douglas’ scuffle with the officer was related to the crash. Douglas was released on $5,000 bail.
