PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Test Shows Perry’s Injury Not Serious
The Rams gave tackle Gerald Perry, who has been suffering lingering pain in his left knee, a magnetic resonance imaging test and found no major cartilage injury.
Perry injured the knee in his first full day of practice with the team last week. Perry may miss the team’s home exhibition opener Monday night against the San Diego Chargers.
Tailback Marcus Dupree is suffering from a sore toe on his right foot after taking a late hit from defensive back Brandy Wells on Wednesday. Although the injury is not serious, Robinson said the team will let him rest until it is completely healed, which may keep Dupree out of the Charger game. . . . Guard Joe Millinichik was held out of practice after suffering from dehydration recently. . . . Robinson said cornerback Darryl Henley, who has been eased back into full-speed work after injuring his left hamstring early in camp, probably will play Monday.
Robinson, while pointing out that tailback Gaston Green slowed down his torrid exhibition pace in the Denver Broncos’ most recent game, said he was pleased that Green has done so well since the Rams traded him during the draft.
Before he carried six times for 10 yards against San Francisco Wednesday night, Green was the star of the Broncos’ exhibition season. Green also played well in recent Rams’ exhibition seasons before vanishing during the regular season.
“When the deal was made, I remember telling him, ‘I think that they fit you,’ ” Robinson said, referring to the Broncos’ philosophy of getting their running backs into the open field instead of asking them to power through the line of scrimmage. “There’s a good fit there.”
