Patty Booker and Band Will Play on KPCC-FM Monday
The Lonely Hearts featuring Patty Booker, the country band from Orange County that recently changed its name from Patty Booker & the Hired Hands, will play on “Citybilly” Monday at 8 p.m. on Pasadena public radio station KPCC-FM (89.3). Renee Engel’s weekly two-hour show features historic country recordings and live music by promising new artists.
The name change was prompted by Booker’s decision to hand full-time leadership of the band over to Hired Hands’ guitarist and singer Rick Shea; she will continue to appear with the group periodically. Shea, who has written some of the Hired Hands’ material along with Booker and steel guitarist Gary Brandin, said that when Booker is not appearing with the group, it will be billed as Rick Shea & the Lonely Hearts.
Booker said she is reducing her live performances to focus on arrangements for a second album.
