Associated Press
WARSAW — A 2,130-foot radio tower, among the tallest in the world, toppled during renovation work, Polish radio reported Friday.
A small fire broke out after the Thursday evening accident when pieces of the tower fell on a trailer where acetylene containers were stored, officials said. There were no injuries.
The tower in Gabin, about 70 miles west of Warsaw, was made of 85 metal segments weighing 420 tons, the report said. Damage was estimated at $27 million.
