FITNESS: The school board for the East...

FITNESS: The school board for the East Whittier City School District will discuss the results of fitness tests given to fifth- and seventh-graders that show both age groups deficient in most areas tested. The board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the district office.

LIFE ON RESERVATIONS: Noted illustrator Stan Devereaux Sinnet will discuss life on American Indian reservations at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Whittier Museum.

AIR QUALITY: Employee involvement in formulating corporate car-pool plans and questions of fairness in setting company parking fees will be the subjects of a public hearing sponsored Thursday by the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The meeting will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Industry Hills Sheraton, 1 Industry Parkway in the City of Industry.

PAKISTAN INDEPENDENCE: A free celebration of Pakistan Independence Day--featuring food, folk music and dance--will be held Saturday at the Pacific Asia Museum, 46 N. Los Robles Ave., Pasadena, beginning at 1 p.m.

PIE BAKING: Signal Hill will host its all-American Pie Baking Contest Saturday as part of the city’s annual Roughneck Roundup celebration. Judging will be at 3 p.m. at Signal Hill Park, 2175 Cherry Ave.
