A 27-year-old El Cajon man was shot and mortally wounded early Saturday after exchanging words with occupants of a vehicle being driven along a Southeast San Diego street, police said.
Dennis Scott Gross was shot in the abdomen at 1:30 a.m., police said, as he walked along the 4900 block of Logan Avenue. He had just exchanged words with people in a vehicle that had approached him, police said.
Gross was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital about three hours after the shooting.
San Diego homicide detectives are investigating and have no motive in the shooting.
