Announcement on Oil Price Fixing Expected: State and Long Beach officials plan a major announcement today in a 15-year-old lawsuit alleging that six major oil companies conspired to fix the price of oil pumped from Long Beach. Officials declined to discuss details of the announcement, but it is expected that one or more of the oil companies involved may have agreed to an out-of-court settlement of the case. Unocal Corp. and Atlantic Richfield Co., which were both named in the original action, have already agreed to settle their role in the suit with cash payments or donations of environmentally sensitive lands.
