The Challenge Facing the Theatre Center

LATC has provided a place where both audience and artist are challenged to examine the realities that exist in our society, whether this involves the location and environment of the company’s home or the varied and sometimes conflicting values portrayed in its works. It asks you to experience with an open mind all types of realities and to acknowledge that these realities exist whether you personally agree with them or not.

LATC presents theater that appeals to different kinds of people with different sets of values. This challenge is imperative to our well-being as a society. If we refuse to respect the values of others or choose to simply ignore them, we will never overcome many of our core societal problems. To let a theater that has taken such a risk to provide this challenge cease to exist is truly frightening.
