Port Hueneme : New Commander to Take Charge at Base
Port Hueneme Seabees will receive a new commanding officer at change of command ceremonies scheduled for Tuesday at the Naval Construction Battalion Center.
Capt. David Nash will assume command from retiring Capt. R. J. Pearson III at ceremonies on the Navy base’s parade field. Nash, who holds an electrical engineering degree from Indiana Institute of Technology, takes the position after a two-year assignment as head of the Navy Public Works Center at Pearl Harbor.
From 1984 to 1986, Nash was commander of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1 in Gulfport, Miss. Port Hueneme is the home port of four Seabee mobile construction battalions, which are trained to build runways, barracks, hospitals and other facilities under enemy fire.
