Larsen Places 2nd in 1,500 Freestyle

Alexis Larsen of the Calabasas-based CLASS Aquatics turned in her best time of the year in the 1,500-meter freestyle Friday to finish second in that event in the U. S. Senior National swimming championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Monday, Larsen finished second in the 800-meter freestyle in the same meet.

Larsen, 14, was clocked in 16 minutes 47.17 seconds Friday to take second behind Kathy Hoffman of Beaver Creek, Ohio, who was timed in 16:40.40.

Larsen’s previous best in the event this year was 16:51.63, recorded in the national junior meet in Mission Viejo last week. That time was 12th best in the world for women this year.

Larsen, a resident of Pacific Palisades, is a student at the Westlake School in Holmby Hills.
