Walnut : Shrubbery to Be Recycled
Beginning Oct. 1, residents will be able to recycle grass clippings, tree trimmings and other discarded shrubbery.
On regular trash pickup days, residents will be asked to place so-called “green waste” in a specially marked container and leave it beside the curb with their other trash and recycling containers.
More than 3,000 tons of green waste are generated in Walnut each year, constituting about 37% of total residential waste, according to the city’s Environmental Services Department.
By Sept. 27, the city’s garbage contractor will mail a plastic ribbon to each resident for identifying the green-waste bin. Those who do not receive the ribbon should telephone (818) 960-7551.
