Modeling in Italy: Los Angeles architect Frank Gehry’s plans for the Walt Disney Concert Hall (to be the new home for the Los Angeles Philharmonic) have earned him a spot in the upcoming Fifth International Exhibition of Architecture of the Venice Biennale in Italy. As a U.S. representative to the show starting Sept. 8, Gehry will display his models for the 2,400-seat hall, which is scheduled to be built on the corner of First Street and Grand Avenue in downtown L.A. by 1996. The concert hall will include a French limestone exterior, skylights and wood on the inside. The architecture exhibit in Venice runs until Oct. 8 and displays work from 29 countries.
