Artist Who Fled China Is Shot to Death in N.Y.
NEW YORK — A Chinese artist who fled to the United States for artistic freedom was shot and killed near New York City’s Times Square early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The artist, Lin Lin, 34, who lived in Harlem, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was hit once in the chest, police said.
After the 2 a.m. EDT shooting, the alleged gunman, identified as James Skinner, 21, of Brooklyn, was captured just one block away by two passing police officers.
Police said they did not yet have a motive for the murder. They were looking for a second man believed to be involved in the incident.
