Nation IN BRIEF : SOUTH CAROLINA : Water Park Denies 2 Black Scouts Entry

Two black Cub Scouts were denied admission to a water park in Graniteville, S.C., because of their race, said their troop leader. “It really hurt my feelings,” said Marcus Bush, 9, of New Ellenton, who was one of the two Scouts turned away from Richardson’s Lake. Frank Williamson, manager of the park about 50 miles southwest of Columbia, said the lake was private, even though most people can get in by paying $3.50 each.
