2nd-Quarter Profits Up for Mail Boxes Coast to Coast

Mail Boxes Coast to Coast Inc., a Glendale company that franchises postal service stores, reported a spurt in earnings in the second quarter despite a 6% decline in revenue.

In the three months that ended June 30, the company’s profit rose to $527,233 from $105,412 a year earlier, while revenue fell to $142,759 from $151,386. The higher earnings were due mostly to a $608,910 gain from the sale of the company’s franchise rights in the Manhattan borough of New York City.

MBCC’s profit for the first half of 1991 jumped to $506,990 from $63,432 a year earlier, and its six-month revenue fell 23%, to $290,429 from $377,975.
