San Diego
A 60-year-old woman pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of her husband, a retired San Diego State University professor.
Lisa Marie Herrmann entered her plea Monday before San Diego Superior Court Judge Jesus Rodriguez, who set sentencing for Oct. 7.
Herrmann is charged with killing Hubert Herrmann, 61, with a rifle in the bathroom of the couple’s home in Paradise Hills on April 2. Hubert Herrmann had been a language professor at SDSU.
Herrmann had been scheduled to go on trial Monday on murder charges, but she reached a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.
The prosecution will ask for no more than a 10-year sentence, and the defense is free to ask for probation, according to court records.
She could also be fined $20,000.
