Chris Tollefson, a former Washington State defensive tackle, said he quit the team after spring drills because he was concerned about his use of steroids.
Tollefson told the Yakima Herald-Republic that using steroids added 50 pounds to his frame since 1988, but also caused him to be alarmed about his condition.
“It got to the point where the risks for me were too great,” he said.
According to Washington State Coach Mike Price, coaches were unaware that Tollefson, whose weight increased by 30 pounds in the spring, used steroids.
