THOUSAND OAKS : Man in Shorts Uses Note to Rob Bank
A middle-aged man wearing shorts robbed a Thousand Oaks bank Wednesday afternoon, handing the teller a note demanding that the money be placed in a manila envelope he brought with him, authorities said.
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies and the FBI are searching for a suspect described as a clean-shaven man with black and gray hair who is about 50 and of medium build. He was also wearing a white and blue striped short-sleeved shirt, authorities said.
The robber entered Wells Fargo Bank in the 100 block of East Thousand Oaks Boulevard about 3 p.m. and presented a note demanding money, Sgt. Gregg W. Whitesell said. The robber did not display a gun, and the contents of the note were undisclosed.
After the teller put an undisclosed amount of money into a manila envelope, the robber left the bank and drove away in an imported blue pickup truck, Whitesell said. The vehicle was last seen driving east on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, he said.
The Thousand Oaks Crime Stoppers program is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the robber’s arrest. The tip line is 494-TALK or 656-1500.
