Couple Held in String of 13 Bank Robberies
A couple with a combined heroin habit costing them $1,200 a day were arrested in a Long Beach hotel and face charges in 13 bank robberies in Long Beach and Orange County, authorities said Wednesday.
Daniel Walbon, 37, and Vickie Walbon, 30, were arrested at the Flamingo Hotel at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Long Beach Police Lt. Robert Gillissie said. The Walbons were booked on suspicion of armed robbery with prosecutors considering charges in three bank robberies in Long Beach and 10 in Orange County, he said.
The pair allegedly made off with about $20,000 since they began their robbery rampage. Their largest heist was at a Seal Beach bank, where they stole $2,600 on Aug. 13, Gillissie said. “They would like to do the robberies in the morning when there weren’t too many people there,” he said.
