Teen-Ager Shot in Attack on Campus
A teen-ager was shot on the campus of Venice High School Tuesday in what is believed to be a gang-related attack, police said.
At least two people are believed involved in the 2:10 p.m. shooting at the school at 13000 Venice Blvd., said Detective Jim Leahy of the LAPD’s West Bureau anti-gang detail. Leahy said one of the suspects got out of a car, approached the 17-year-old and “challenged him.”

Shooting location--A story about a gang shooting in Venice that ran in some editions of The Times Thursday incorrectly stated that a teen-ager was wounded at Venice High School Tuesday afternoon. The shooting actually took place across the street from the school, at the corner of Venice Boulevard and Ashwood Avenue. The injured youth, who was not a student at the school, sought help at the school campus.
The suspect then shot the victim at least twice, once in the body and once in the leg, Leahy said. He said the victim does not attend Venice High and police do not know why he was on campus.
The victim was taken to UCLA Medical Center where he is in serious but stable condition, Leahy said. There have been no arrests.
