Delta Burke’s House Manager Arrested

Pasadena police arrested the household manager for former “Designing Women” star Delta Burke and her husband, “Major Dad” star Gerald McRaney, on suspicion of embezzling more than $10,000 from the couple’s household account, authorities said Wednesday.

Paulette Ava Broughton, 44, of Pasadena surrendered Tuesday and was released on her own recognizance pending further investigation, said Lt. Frank Wills. He said police expect to take their findings early next week to the district attorney’s staff, which will decide whether to file criminal charges.

Broughton’s attorney, Laurence Ring, said his client went to work for Burke last November and resigned in July after the couple refused to reimburse her for $12,000 in overtime pay. Ring denied the embezzlement allegation, saying Broughton had the authority to write checks on the account and to reimburse herself for expenses.
