HILLY RESCUES: Santiago Canyon Road, scene of many deadly pileups, soon should be getting about 20 of those yellow, solar-powered emergency call boxes. Orange County transportation authority members are expected to give their approval on Monday. . . . “Call boxes weren’t put there before because cellular technology hadn’t advanced enough to work in hilly terrain,” transportation spokeswoman Mona Ziada said. Call boxes are ordinarily restricted to freeways, but the county is trying to get them in remote areas known for stranded motorists.
