Reputed Gang Member Found Shot to Death
An 18-year-old man believed to have been a gang member was found shot to death Thursday in the courtyard of a Sepulveda apartment complex, Los Angeles police said. No arrests were made.
Police were called to the two-story complex at 9:50 a.m. after residents reported gunshots. Detective Michael Brandt said the victim was found sprawled near the swimming pool.
Some residents of the complex who knew the victim provided police with his gang nickname but investigators did not know his real name, Brandt said. The nickname was not released by police. The victim was not a resident of the complex, and police were unable to locate his family.
Although the victim was believed to have been a gang member, it was not known what motivated the shooting, Brandt said.
