Van Nuys Junior High has a problem. It isn’t in Van Nuys anymore. New boundary lines for the area have placed it in Sherman Oaks.
But we think this is a good time for the school to adopt the name that its students chose in a special vote more than a decade ago. They were honoring the memory of a hippopotamus who was accidentally killed by animal control officers after she escaped from a wild animal attraction in Orange County.
Now’s there chance to make up for it. Let’s rename the school Bubbles Junior High.
