Driving Range Plans Proceed
The El Segundo City Council agreed Tuesday night to go ahead with plans to build a golf driving range on a portion of vacant land donated to the city by Chevron USA three years ago.
The council studied a number of options for the 26-acre parcel--including commercial, residential or industrial development in addition to the recreational use--and found that the range is likely to generate the most revenue for the city.
The council also asked that the final plans for the 60-station range include adjacent open space should the city decide in the future to add a nine-hole executive golf course or commercial development to the parcel.
