Conforte to Quit Brothel Business
MUSTANG, Nev. — Flamboyant brothel operator Joe Conforte announced Thursday that he is retiring after more than one-third of a century in the bordello business.
“The other times I only said I was going to retire,” he said. “This time, it’s for real.”
Conforte, 65, said he plans to spend his retirement pushing an initiative to legalize prostitution in California.
“If I find the time and energy, I really want to move to California as a nonprofit business and get (prostitution) legalized there,” he said at a news conference inside the revamped Mustang Ranch.
Conforte’s reign at the infamous Mustang Ranch will end Sept. 30, when his quarterly business license expires, he said.
