Lenny Dykstra, who faces charges of driving under the influence from a serious auto accident last May, reportedly had traffic tickets voided after almost striking a school crossing guard during spring training in St. Lucie County, Fla., in 1988, a Florida newspaper reported.
The Palm Beach Post said police records show Dykstra, a Philadelphia Phillie outfielder, had three tickets voided when he was playing for the New York Mets.
Police records show that Dykstra told a deputy that he was late for spring training and did not think he had to stop for children trying to cross the intersection.
