Geoff Brabham suffered compression fractures of two vertebrae and three broken ribs in a high-speed accident during a test run for a Camel GT sports car race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. He also had multiple bruises and cuts of his right leg and forehead.
Brabham, 39, son of former Formula One champion Jack Brabham of Australia, crashed his Nissan NPT-91 prototype sports car in Turn 1 of the road course. He was conscious after the accident and airlifted by helicopter to Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, 60 miles away, where he was listed in stable condition.
