Fountain Valley Wins in Pony League Series

Fountain Valley defeated Oak Park-River Forest of Illinois, 2-0, Thursday in the semifinals for 14-year-olds in the Pony League World Series in Washington, Pa.

Deric Yanagisawa had a two-run double in the first inning for Fountain Valley, which plays Puerto Rico today for the title. Chris Ponchak (5 1/3 innings) and Kent Montgomery (1 2/3 innings) combined on a two-hit shutout.
