Miss Princess ‘Cap Headlines Quarter Horse Opening Night
Winning Guarantee, who beat males in the Gold Coast Express Handicap at the Orange County Racing Fair on Aug. 10 , heads a field of nine in the $20,000-added Miss Princess Handicap on tonight’s opening program of the 1990-91 fall-winter quarter horse meeting at Los Alamitos.
Winning Guarantee has won two of nine starts this year and will start from the outside, the No. 9 post, with jockey Joe Meier.
The field in post position order includes: Hileah Cash (with jockey Eddie Garcia), Suena Eye (Danny Cardoza), Isaws Sugar Bear (Steve Treasure), Wings Of The Dove (Henry Garcia), Sugar Ego (Kip Didericksen), Ima Lark (G.R. Carter), BCR A Blurr ForSure (Roman Figueroa), The Louisiana Girl (John Creager) and Winning Guarantee.
The 1990-91 quarter horse season is scheduled for 121 days through Feb. 8. For the first time, Sunday evening racing will be added to the calender with a 6 p.m. post time. Post time Wednesday through Saturday evenings is 7:25 p.m.
Saturday’s program is highlighted by the $20,000-added Kaweah Bar Handicap, which has drawn a field of six: Ocanthterun (Juan Limon), Power Train (Figueroa), Desert Connection (Treasure), Golden Rustler (Garcia), Rambac (Didericksen) and Macs Leinster Band (Ralph Seville). Sunday’s feature race is the $10,000-added Vandy’s Flash Handicap for 3-year-olds.
