New Queen Cole
With a sense of heartwarming personal triumph and vindication, I read of Natalie Cole’s long-overdue realization that pop, rock and R&B; are musical offal and that true merit lies in jazz and the great old standards (“Q&A; With Natalie Cole,” Aug. 18).
I have doggedly taken this lonely stance for many years. What took her so long? Her beloved father can finally cease rapidly rotating in his grave!
