Mental Health Cuts
Congratulations to our supervisors for not accepting the county administrator’s recommendation to balance the budget by almost eliminating the already inadequate services for the acutely mentally ill.
No longer can it be counted on that they, as well as children, have no political voices.
From the many supporters who spoke at the budget hearings, it was apparent that more and more citizens have learned that those with schizophrenia and depressions are ill and disabled through no fault of their own, that no one yet knows the cause of or cure for their disorders, and that their care and treatment cannot be sacrificed.
Thanks to our supervisors coming forth with their own suggestions, cuts are now being considered which are not so humanly devastating.
