SANTA PAULA : Authorities Identify Fatal Crash Victim
Authorities Monday identified Catherine Pedersen as the woman killed after her subcompact car was broadsided in the intersection of Briggs and West Telegraph roads near Santa Paula.
Pedersen, 44, of Fillmore, was pronounced dead Sunday evening at Santa Paula Hospital, according to the Ventura County coroner’s office.
Pedersen was driving north on Briggs Road when Abel Ballestero, 78, of Santa Paula drove his Cadillac into the side of her car, California Highway Patrol Officer Jerry Sawasaki said.
Ballestero was treated for two broken wrists and released from Santa Paula Hospital. Cecilia Ballestero, 78, a passenger in the Cadillac, was in satisfactory condition at Santa Paula Hospital, a nursing supervisor said.
The CHP spokesman said the accident is under investigation.
