Glendale : Man Charged in Son’s Death

A Glendale man who allegedly shot his 4-year-old son to death while in a drug-induced state was charged Tuesday with murder.

Arraignment for Harold Dean Estrada, 32, was continued to Sept. 6in Glendale Municipal Court. He remains jailed without bail.

Estrada was arrested last Friday, shortly after police discovered his son, Timothy Flores, dying of a chest wound in the family’s apartment in the 1500 block of East Harvard Street.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Pargament said a drug evaluation expert employed by police concluded that Estrada probably was under the influence of PCP at the time of the shooting. Results of toxicology tests were incomplete.

Sandra Estrada, the child’s stepmother, told police her husband shot the boy after an argument between the couple.

Police recovered a .38-caliber handgun believed used in the slaying.
