South Korea’s Trade Deficit Hits Record $8.77 Billion: The Asian nation’s deficit swelled to a record $8.77 billion for the first eight months of 1991, nearly three times larger than last year’s comparable figures, a government report said. From January to August of last year, South Korea ran a deficit of $2.99 billion on a customs clearance basis.
