COUNTYWIDE : Vital Documents a Phone Call Away
County residents may order birth, marriage or death certificates by phone day or night on an automated system recently installed in the Ventura County recorder’s office.
Callers answer questions on a recording, and staff members mail out the document within 24 hours of receipt, said Richard D. Dean, county clerk and recorder.
“The new phone system gives needed facts in a consistent manner to the public whenever they call, day or night,” Dean said. “Also, it eliminates the need to come in person for a vital record. This saves both human and energy resources.”
A $4.50 processing fee is charged to the caller’s Visa or MasterCard.
The documents may also be ordered by mail.
Information on office hours, address, location, fees and recording of documents is available over the phone in English and Spanish.
The recorder’s office telephone number is 654-2291.
