COUNTYWIDE : Ruling Delayed on Environment Report
A county panel reviewing an environmental report on the Jordan Ranch project in eastern Ventura County decided Wednesday to delay a decision on the report for a month.
After more than an hour of testimony, the Environmental Report Review Committee voted unanimously to postpone until Oct. 2 a decision on whether the environmental impact report on the Jordan Ranch is adequate.
The delay is needed so that the staff can respond to concerns raised by environmentalists and Agoura Hills residents about increased traffic.
Potomac Investments Associates, which has an option on Jordan Ranch, wants to build 750 homes and a tournament golf course on the property. The project would include a complex land exchange with entertainer Bob Hope, owner of the 2,308-acre Jordan Ranch.
During a weeklong golf tournament, the ranch would generate an average of 20,300 vehicle trips a day, according to county reports. Several speakers said Wednesday that the traffic impact has been underestimated.
If the review committee proclaims the report adequate Oct. 2, the entire project will go before the county Planning Commission in November. The final decision by the Board of Supervisors is expected next year.
