Marina del Rey : Boat Decals Required
Boat owners are being reminded that a new federal law requires them to buy a recreational boat decal or face substantial penalties.
The U.S. Coast Guard this week was scheduled to begin enforcement of the law that requires a current recreational boat decal on all powerboats more than 16 feet in length that use coastal waters.
Fees for the decal depend on the length of the vessel. They range from $25 per year for boats 16 to 20 feet long to $100 for boats longer than 40 feet.
Los Angeles County officials have asked dock masters in the marina to distribute information to all boat owners who dock there.
Boat owners can contact the Coast Guard at (800) 368-5647 for more information on the fee. Telephone orders for the decal can be placed by calling (800) 848-2100.
