Successful Women

In response to your editorial, “Beyond Women’s Suffrage” (Aug. 26): Your editorial says that less than 3% of the top executives at major corporations are women. Well, tsk tsk. I personally know quite a number of women who are presidents of their own small businesses. Successful small businesses. They seem to be very good at this sort of thing, and every man I know who started a business with a woman as a partner has made good. Women seem to be more pragmatic about business management without being coldblooded about it. And they’re not afraid to put in the hours when necessary. The American woman can do OK when she wants to. She’s a lot smarter and more success-oriented than she is given credit for.
