Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D. C. : No ‘Magic’ Health Care Plan--Sununu
White House Chief of Staff John H. Sununu said the Bush Administration will take a position on the nationwide crisis in medical care and coverage before the 1992 elections, but will not embrace any “grandiose plan.” Sununu, interviewed on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” said: “The last thing in the world you want to do is rush to a magic health care solution.” Democrats in both the House and Senate have proposed legislation to require employers to offer medical insurance. Some lawmakers want the federal government to start paying the steep costs of long-term treatment and care.
