Nation IN BRIEF : KANSAS : Clinic Owner Backs Curbs on Abortions

Anti-abortion demonstrations this summer in Wichita, Kan., have targeted a clinic that performs third trimester abortions, but the clinic’s owner says he opposes most such abortions and has asked lawmakers to restrict them. In an interview published in the Wichita Eagle, Dr. George Tiller said he supports banning third-trimester abortions except when the woman’s health is in danger or in cases of severe fetal abnormalities.
