Kissinger, Li Peng Meet

BEIJING — Henry A. Kissinger, architect of the normalization of Sino-U.S. relations, met with Chinese Premier Li Peng on Sunday as head of a high-powered delegation of former U.S. officials.
Although the former secretary of state’s visit is described as private, Western diplomats speculate that he may be preparing the way for a resumption of Cabinet-level contacts between Beijing and Washington.
